Will you ever totally get it?

What a good day it is today, another opportunity for growth, and to receive all types of blessings. It's December, were right at the exit of the year. I'm here thinking today of all the things I've learned through out this year, it's been a lot. My teachability index was not always a 10 but it has been higher than average. Now there are also lessons and concepts that I learned years ago and this year I still discover new insights about them.

I sit here with a question.. Will I one day get it for good? In other words, will I ever get it to the point I don't have to learn it anymore? I seem to ask this question literally every year and the answer is always the same.. NO! No matter how competent I think I got at it.

I really like how cooking teaches so much about learning and growing, its probably one of the best ways to look at these type of concepts we talk about in action.

If you like to cook you probably have a dish that not only do you LOVE making it but your real good at it also, it tastes delicious every time. Although your dish is pretty mouth watering and sooo good you will still find with time new insights, new ways you can make it better. Talk to any chef or somebody who really loves being in the kitchen and you will find that they'll tell you this to be true.

The truth is that no matter how good you may be or do something you will never get it.. although you do it proficient, although you may be the best in your work to construct it, if you stay humble and teachable you will always find new things you didn't see before. Maybe you realised that you could add something to make it stable or maybe take something out to make it faster.

Heck, you've seen a good movie before and later on in time decide to re watch it, you just like everyone else that choose to re watch a film always seem to find something we didn't see the first time we've seen it.

And if you choose to watch it again in the future you will realise the same thing over and over again. The same thing comes to your work, family relationships, friends, hobbies, and any and every endeavor that exist on the face of the planet. You have the ability to focus on something and make it as good as you could ever imagine.

Look at people like Thomas Edison. They say that it took over 10,000 times for him to finally perfect the light bulb. We'll although we see Edison as a revolutionary and how good he worked and how much of a genius he was, Edisons final product was not the end result.

We have light bulbs today that are smaller and in all shapes, they save more energy, they last longer. They are BETTER. And although they are better there is still room for improvement and no matter how good they become there will always be an opportunity to make it better.

So if you have ever asked yourself regarding something you were learning or experiencing the question. Will I ever totally get it? Just know that you'll never get it, your always GETTING IT. And if you do get complacent and think you've mastered it or has gotten to the end of the learning curve realise that the curve is never ending and you can go higher and higher.

This is what separate those that are average from those who become innovators and legends. Those that become the legends are not better than you nor are they different or luckier than you, they are just like you the only difference is that they chose to stick a little longer and more open with the task at hand and hit the jackpot.

You can also hit the jackpot, if you don't quit and keep learning. Remember that you will never get it no matter how awesome whatever you doing is coming out.. because your always GETTING IT!
