The issue comes when we see our beloved friend or love one or mainly anybody who may want our comfort and we see them feeling real bad, their whole turns into almost a negative ball of energy as it should since they may going through something terrible and strong and then we ourselves start FEELING BAD WITH THEM.
That is the issue. You must understand that if you really want to be there for somebody and you really want to help them then YOU must be in a different energy space that they may find themselves in. You must be above the emotional tone scale, you must feel empowered. If not how can you expect to make the other individual feel better? YOU CAN'T. Two drowning people cannot help each other not drown. It's almost like all these people who actually good meaning hearts but they have no money and yet want to help people who are at their same position or similar to it.
They are trying to fight fire with fire. Managing and helping with the problem become quite very difficult if not impossible. The place most people find themselves when encountering another individual going through some tough times is the place of "Sympathy" this place will not solve anything. It will comfort them and might make them feel worse but at least they are not alone.
In other hands when you encounter this challenge with somebody and decide to feel "Empathy" then you don't lose power, you don't lose your hope for a better outcome, and then and only then will the individual realise and feel true comfort and peace and this will open a huge door for faith. There is a difference between the two and is very specific, plus very simple.
Sympathy is when you feel bad when somebody else feels bad, Empathy is when you acknowledge somebody else is feeling but you yourself doesn't feel bad. Many people look at this and think that this is selfish and wrong, when in reality it's actually empowering not only to you but to the person who needs it the most and that is the person who is feeling bad. It empowers you because understanding this concept allows you to be take more control over how negativity affects you. And it helps the other person by making then feel better not just about the situation but with certainty about the future and that is the best way to help anyone who is going through a challenge and desires comfort.
